Selenicereus undatus, the white-fleshed pitahaya, is a species of Cactaceae and is the most cultivated species in the genus. It is used both as an ornamental vine and as a fruit crop with fragrant white and yellow blooms, this perfectly low-maintenance houseplant is a hardy cactus and comes with a great will to grow (and is soft to the touch). As its stems continue to sprawl outward, you may want to re pot the dragon fruit to see its full potential.
Although dragon fruit plants enjoy warm weather and are often planted in full sunlight, too much intense sun in dry or especially hot regions can cause stem damage. If temperatures in your area are frequently near 100 degrees Fahrenheit, it's best to plant your cactus in a spot that boasts partial shade
Since the Dragon Fruit is a tropical succulent, it should be watered only when the soil is nearly dry. Overwatering is a surefire way to kill a cactus! You can check the moisture of the soil by putting your finger or a yard stick into the soil about 3 inches down.
