Cassia Tree Propagation: How To Propagate A Golden Shower Tree

Propagate a Golden Shower Tree

  1. Cassia trees will propagate from seeds all year long but it’s recommended to plant in summer.
  2. The seeds germinate best when the days are long with extra hours of sunshine.
  3. Rinse the seeds in warm water to remove the dark pulp, then scarify the seed coat.
  4. Scarifying means you should rub the seed edge with a rasp to create a weak area.
  5. Don’t create holes in the seed coat since that will stop golden shower propagating and kill the seed.
  6. After you have scarified the seeds in preparation for cassia tree propagation, soak them in cold water for 24 hours.
  7. Plant each seed in its own gallon pot with drainage holes on the bottom.
  8. Fill the pots with lightweight, sterile medium. Sow the seeds 1 inch (2.5 cm.) deep, then position the pots in a warm, bright location.
  9. You’ll see the first seedling within a month.
  10. All you need to do is keep the top few inches of medium moderately moist during the time of germination.
